Memory 12

Trivial Positive: Theta and the skateboard

Headcanon with evidence. We see Theta with a holographic skateboard. On the bottom of the skateboard is the same logo as Wash has on his own skateboard. So, more than likely, Wash was the influence for Theta's holoprojections.

Memory starts out with Wash waking up in the middle of the night from a nightmare. They're not too frequent, but often enough he's used to them. He gets up, knowing he won't sleep for a while. At first he goes to the training room, but oh surprise, surprise, Carolina is training there. He shrugs it off and grabs his skateboard from his locker, which also has pictures of cats, cans with twisty straws, fruit, and a rubbery ducky. It's been a while since he used it, and everyone sane is asleep anyway.

So he proceeds to skate around the halls of the Mother of Invention. Casually doing some tricks, and doing pretty good until a sudden voice loudly declares something was SO COOL and he falls flat on his face.

Cue North approaching with a sheepish laugh, helmet under his arm, and Theta, a tiny purple semi-transparent floating figure, apologizing. Wash brushes it off. He asks why they're up, North brushes off with a couldn't sleep. Wash is pretty sure there's a bit more, but doesn't press, and just says the same. Theta starts asking about the skateboard and it eventually ends up Wash starts showing Theta the tricks he knows.

Overall it's very cute with Theta being an excited kid, North smiling all fondly like a dad, and sometimes teasing Wash when he fumbles because friends always gotta give each other shit. It ends about an hour or two later when North yawns and tells Theta they should go sleep. They part and Wash goes to bed himself, overall pretty chipper.

Maybe he'll do well when he gets his own AI after all. For all that Theta is a skittish thing, it didn't take long to get along with him, after all.
